A Guide to Winter Snow Sledding

Make the most of that noblest of winter weekend sports

Winter is here, so how about a sport that people of all ages can partake in: sledding.  There are three important factors needed for optimum sledding:

  • Sled: a disc, a toboggan, a tube, the mattress from your dorm room or a garbage can.
  • Snow: the white stuff…well, the hexagonal ice crystals formed in the upper atmosphere that fall to the ground and accumulate; not the one who ate the apple and was captured by dwarves.
  • Speed: actually, not speed, but good ‘ole Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion: FORCE = MASS x ACCELERATION

Ryan Krogh gives some suggestions on gear and useful tips to make each ride down the hill more memorable.
