Has snail mail been replaced by SMS mail?

With today’s technology of smart phones a recent survey says that only 11% of the traveling population still writes postcards. I wonder if the paper postcard will survive or perhaps the postcard apps like Postman, Postcard Express and Lifecard will take over.

I like the nostalgia of postcards, but have found that I don’t send them anymore either.  I always found it to be a bummer that I would return from my trips before the postcards did—if at all.  Lifecard is a pretty attractive application, though: instantaneous and simple.  I’ll definitely be excited to send some more e-postcards on my next trip.
